The award, which is decided by a jury of 16 European agricultural publications, was presented at the Agritechnica exhibition in Hannover, Germany.

The introduction of E-Services on the TopDown 400-700 allows the machines to use prescription maps to control various settings automatically on the go. This means that, before going to the field, the farmer can program how the individual working elements 鈥� including the discs, shanks, leveler and packer 鈥� should behave at specific spots in the field based on soil type and other field characteristics.

鈥淭he next step after variable rate application of seed and fertilizer is to apply the same thinking to tillage. Here, savings are achieved using the rule 鈥榓s much as necessary, as little as possible.鈥� Some of the benefits come as diesel savings and improved soil health; others by the possibility of increasing the working speed as well as reducing wear. Additionally, this enables an autonomous farming future,鈥� says Wolfram Hastolz, director of Tillage Product Management at V盲derstad.

Agritechnica is a biannual show in Hanover, Germany and is traditionally held in November. This year, however, the show was postponed until February 2022 to allow for progress in the world鈥檚 recovery from events around COVID-19.

German officials are reporting a fourth wave of COVID-19 in the country and imposing additional restrictions.

鈥淲ith regret, we have observed that, following the deteriorating pandemic situation in recent weeks and the resulting current official regulations, a justified exceptional situation has arisen, under which the trouble-free execution of Agritechnica is no longer possible,鈥� said DLG CEO Reinhard Grandke. DLG is the German Agricultural Society that hosts the show.

He continued, 鈥淲e deeply regret the cancellation. Many of our exhibitors, partners, visitors and members, as well as the entire DLG team, have already invested in extensive preparations.鈥�

The show was expecting 2,000 exhibitors. The digital complement to Agritechnica launched in聽November remains available through March at dlg-connect.com. The next show is scheduled for November 2023.

Trade fair organizers said that in view of the continuing pandemic and the status of vaccination rollout, the DLG, the VDMA Landtechnik and the exhibitor advisory board of the fair do not see sufficient planning certainty.

The November event has been rescheduled for Feb. 27 to March 5 next year.

“Our ultimate goal as an organizer is to give exhibitors and visitors planning security,” said Dr. Reinhard Grandke, managing director of DLG. “This is not currently available. That is why DLG, in close coordination with the exhibitor advisory board of Agritechnica and the VDMA Landtechnik as an industry partner, has taken the decision to postpone Agritechnica.”

Organizers say they will launch a digital platform in November to strengthen the reach of Agritechnica and offer users new networking opportunities.

SDF made the decision after analyzing the circumstances of the pandemic in Europe, it said. Despite the control measures and the vaccination campaign worldwide, the company says the future scenario is uncertain.

The announcement follows last month鈥檚 decision by John Deere to not attend Agritechnica; it cited similar reasons. Parts company Kramp has pulled out of both EIMA and Agritechnica, and BKT will not be at the Italian show.

The German Agricultural Society (DLG), which organizes Agritechnica, remains optimistic that the physical event will go ahead. In a recent press release, the DLG said 90 percent of the exhibition grounds are booked. It expects more than 2,000 exhibitors, including AGCO, Kubota, Kuhn, Krone, Lemken, P枚ttinger and V盲derstad.

Organizers for Agritechnica say they expect more than 2,000 exhibitors for the 2021 show in Hanover, Germany, in November, but Deere will not be among them.

The tractor maker said the 鈥渇uture remains uncertain,鈥� citing mutations of the coronavirus and the slow progress of vaccination.

鈥淒espite numerous controlling measures, such as business restrictions, lockdowns and event cancellations, the pandemic has not yet been sustainably brought under control,鈥� said Alejandro S谩yago with Deere. 鈥淎s such, an adequate protection of world鈥檚 population cannot yet be ensured, which would be an essential prerequisite for participation in an international trade fair.鈥�
