Constructed in partnership with Bierman Construction of Columbus, this marks a bold new chapter following the 2024 collapse of Duo Lift’s main office building—a challenge that tested the company’s resilience and strengthened its resolve to rebuild stronger than ever.

The new facility will occupy roughly the same footprint as the original building but will feature a second story and a modern, future-focused design. Plans include upgraded office spaces, conference rooms, an extra-large meeting area, a staff lounge, and elevator access—all designed to provide staff and visitors with improved comfort, connectivity, and room for future growth.

Duo Lift currently employs 80–100 full-time staff across its office and manufacturing operations. The new headquarters will enhance the employee experience while positioning the company for decades of continued innovation.

“Our team is proud to break ground on this new headquarters—a project that represents far more than just bricks and mortar,” said Ben Hellbusch, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Duo Lift Manufacturing. “This building has been a long time coming, and it will secure the foundation for our future growth while standing as a symbol of our legacy: delivering innovative equipment built on quality, safety, and dependability. With this project, our facilities will reflect the same level of professionalism and excellence that our customers associate with the Duo Lift name.”

“In addition, we are grateful to our staff and customers who stood with us through the challenges of temporary office solutions,” Hellbusch said. “Their patience and commitment kept us moving forward. Now, the time has come to give our team the space they deserve—an environment built for collaboration, innovation, and success.”

The project is expected to take 10 months, with a grand opening slated for summer 2026.

Duo Lift Expands with Linco-Precision Deal /news/member/duo-lift-expands-with-linco-precision-deal/ Fri, 05 Sep 2025 19:57:34 +0000 /?p=32913 In August 2025, Duo-Lift Manufacturing Co. of Columbus, NE., acquired Linco-Precision, a shortline dealership in El Paso, IL., marking its strategic entry into retail. Linco, long a top-tier customer of Duo Lift’s fertilizer equipment, was one of three businesses owned by Illinois-based Skip Klinefelter. The acquisition aligns with Duo Lift’s core business and expands its reach into direct sales and service.

Ben Hellbusch

Ben Hellbusch, who leads strategic direction, explained the move as a natural evolution: “We’ve been talking about a dealership for 20 years… Here in the last 6 months, an opportunity presented itself that gave us a chance to get into the dealership world.” The El Paso facility offers 31,000 square feet, overhead cranes, and a paint booth—features uncommon in traditional dealerships.

David Hellbusch

The acquisition also strengthens Busch Equipment Co., Duo Lift’s distribution arm, by enabling local assembly and reducing freight costs. David Hellbusch emphasized the value of vertical integration, noting that it allows the company to “see the sale all the way through to the end and get that opportunity to touch the end user.”

With deep industry relationships and a focus on fertilizer equipment, Duo Lift aims to make the El Paso location a walk-in hub for farm parts, repairs, and specialized service.

Duo Lift Manufacturing Celebrates 80 Years /news/duo-lift-manufacturing-celebrates-80-years/ Fri, 25 Aug 2023 16:32:45 +0000 /?p=24725 Duo Lift Manufacturing recently celebrated its 80th Anniversary by inviting the business community to a Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Event. Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, State Senator Mike Moser and Mayor Jim Bulkley were present and spoke to a record crowd of 150 people.

Duo Lift began in 1943 when farmer Arthur Hellbusch designed a wagon lift in the back of his milk barn which consisted of a frame placed between the wagon box and the running gear operated by pulleys and cables to lift the box. This eliminated having to scoop grain out of the wagon and allowed it to simply run out of the box. He may have been the first to do this, but that is unknown. Arthur sold his lift to neighbors and friends by word of mouth. Eventually, the state of Nebraska required him to have a name and a sales tax number calling him a manufacturer and not a farmer. He later built irrigation trailers to haul gated irrigation pipe to and from the field. His focus was still farming and as a hobby he built things to make farming easier.

In 1969, his son, Jim Hellbusch, returned from college and joined the family farming operation with the desire to see if he could make his father’s hobby into a business. Since then the company has grown and expanded from a 30’ x 80’ building to over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space which includes robots and laser tables. The product lines have changed too. The company now builds fertilizer trailers, head hauler trailers swather hauler trailers fuel haulers, brine makers, and semi trailers to name a few. The product lines span agricultural, commercial, and custom trailers. The company sells in the continental United States and Canada through Distributors and Reps. The company holds contracts with States for state highway departments and sells on occasion to the federal government.

Duo Lift has been recognized for its innovation by The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) for its LowBoy fertilizer wagon and in 2023 for its All Steer Head Hauler trailers.

Duo Lift joined the ąű¶ł´«Ă˝ (FEMA) in the early 1980’s and credits that relationship with helping the business grow. Jim Hellbush served as the FEMA President in 1999.

Sons Ben and David have joined Duo Lift and are leading the company into the next phase of company growth. Ben is currently serving as FEMA President. The company’s goal is to produce safe, high-quality equipment that is manufactured and sold with pride.
