The results: on the fence.

Thirty-six percent of members who responded said they would go for such a benefit. Twenty-eight percent said no. The remaining 36 percent were not sure.

Help us get a clearer picture of what you need. If you have not yet submitted your membership survey, send the Association an email with as few as six words: “yes on health insurance member service,” “no on health insurance member service,” “need more info to know about health insurance member service.”

Better yet, if you fall into that “need more info” category, let us know what your challenges are in your current plan or what you like about your plan that you are reluctant to let go.

We were talking about “Help me help you”—the line that Tom Cruise, who plays sports agent Jerry Maguire, delivers to pro football player Rod Tidwell, played by Cuba Gooding Jr., in the 1996 movie.

That’s what the Association is asking of you: Help us help you.

The email contains a link to a membership survey. The Association staff, with feedback from more than a dozen executives from member companies, drafted questions that we believe you can complete in five minutes or fewer.

We are, like virtually every organization in 2020, using events of this year to plan for a blockbuster 2021. We are creating new ways to be of value to the shortline industry and our member companies, and we are asking you to help define our direction.

If you haven’t yet received the survey, watch your inbox in coming days, and please take a moment to complete it. Companies who submit surveys will get extra drink tickets to the welcome reception at the 2021 Supply Summit and have their company’s name entered in a drawing for one free executive Summit registration.

This is your opportunity to influence Association programs that can ultimately create greater efficiency in your operations. Thank you for giving us five minutes of your time to help us help you, and thank you for your membership.
