As a component manufacturer, supplier, and integrator, the new unit will work closely with Yanmar’s long-standing customers to electrify applications such as excavators, wheel loaders, and other industrial machinery, according to a news release issued by the company.

With this new organization, Yanmar reports it is reinforcing its role as an industry leader in sustainable, zero-emission solutions. The Electrification Unit will not only support the ongoing transformation of the compact off-highway segment but also pave the way for a more sustainable future.

The new Electrification Unit will concentrate on three primary product areas: Yanmar-branded industrial machinery; machinery for OEMs; and components and e-powertrains for industrial machinery. By advancing these key sectors, says the company, the unit aims to drive innovation and reinforce Yanmar’s leadership in the transition to zero-emission solutions.

The newly constructed center will distribute Yanmar’s versatile, high-quality YM, YT and SA series tractors and the company’s Bull and Brahma series UTVs as well as a wide range of attachments. This is expected to streamline dealer operations by minimizing the necessity to maintain high inventory levels on-site. Simultaneously, it will substantially reduce lead times for product delivery to customers, ensuring prompt order fulfillment. Yanmar Compact Equipment North America (Yanmar CE North America), encompassing the Yanmar Compact Equipment and ASV brands, breaks ground on a 32,000-square-foot expansion to its Grand Rapids, Minnesota facility. The expansion will greatly increase manufacturing capacity and allow for  to be manufactured alongside .

Yanmar CE North America kicked off the project during an event on June 2 celebrating the Yanmar Compact Equipment and ASV brand histories and the company’s employees. More than 500 people attended.

“We’ve talked a lot about expansion plans over the past year to our customers, dealers and those we visited with at CONEXPO, so it is thrilling to break ground and see those plans come to fruition,” said Tate Johnson, president of Yanmar CE North America. “This project is ultimately about better serving our customers, both through expanded manufacturing capabilities and increased staffing to make sure their needs are met.”

The expansion will allow for the manufacturing of Yanmar’s recently announced compact track loaders while continuing to manufacture ASV compact track loaders at the same facility. Additionally, company executives project the addition of hundreds of jobs over the next five years.

The new section will house a paint system that will increase paint capacity by up to three times. It will also boost parts manufacturing capacity by up to two times in the previously occupied space. The new powder paint system will be more efficient and have less environmental impact.

The new partnership will allow Yanmar America to offer its customers a broader selection of implements, including rear blades, box blades, disc harrows, and landscape rakes. Yanmar will offer customers approximately 150 implements, designed specifically for use with Yanmar’s compact and sub-compact tractors, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance.
