See KC’s SubTropolis: World’s Largest Underground Business Complex
While at the Fall Convention, members can explore the history of — a cave created through the mining of a 270-million-year-old limestone deposit. In the mining process, limestone is removed by the room and pillar method, leaving 25-foot square pillars that are on 65-foot centers and 40 feet apart.

The pillars’ even spacing, concrete flooring and 16-foot high, smooth ceilings make build-to-suit facilities time and cost efficient for tenants. SubTropolis is completely dry, brightly lit, with miles of wide, paved streets accessed at street level.
SubTropolis is home to Ford’s NAVLOS facility; VAWD accredited and cGMP compliant pharmaceutical operations; currently houses over 1,400,000 square feet of government, archival, and record storage tenants; is first-stop/last-stop for FedEx and UPS; and more.
Attendees of the Fall Convention will travel by guided bus to SubTropolis to learn more about the unique cave’s development and history. (Additional fee applies.)
