Member Companies Engage in Workforce Development
Two Association member companies have taken leadership roles in an Iowa initiative to prepare students for technical careers.
Representatives from Miller Products Co. and Salford Group in Osceola, Iowa, are members of an industrial tech advisory board for the Clarke Community Schools Career Academy, which is in its first year.
The academy is designed to help students better understand how their education is integrated into future career options and what skills they need to pursue careers in manufacturing and other trades.
“Creating a better understanding of how specific coursework is applied in real-world scenarios builds on the achievement of the students, encouraging a deeper engagement and commitment to a future-focused perspective,” said Clarke Community Schools’ Superintendent Steve Seid.
Jean Bahls, who is curriculum director for the academy, said the program will help students “discover a broader world beyond the halls of Clarke Community Schools and have the opportunity to prepare for it.”
The representatives from Miller Products and Salford are among eight Clarke County companies serving on the industrial tech advisory board with representatives from the school district and county development corporation.
