Help ASABE Shape a New Boom-Mounted Mower Safety Standard
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has announced a new standards project for boom-mounted agricultural mowers and invites those with relevant expertise to participate in the development of the document.
The drafting committee for X673, Safety for Boom Mounted Mowers, is looking for experts to review and provide industry feedback. The opportunity is available to any qualified individual who expresses interest in the standard. Membership in ASABE is not required. Individuals unable to commit the time to review documents throughout the year are welcome to join as Observing Members for awareness of the committee’s work. Generally, the committee meets in person annually in February, during the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky, and virtually as needed. Meetings are typically under one hour in duration.
For additional information, anyone interested in joining the ASABE Harvest committee is encouraged to contact Sydney Ingeson, ASABE Standards Administrator (ingeson@asabe.org).
ASABE is recognized worldwide as a standards-developing organization for food, agricultural, and biological systems, with more than 280 standards currently in publication. Conformance to ASABE standards is voluntary, except where required by state, provincial, or other governmental requirements, and the documents are developed by consensus in accordance with procedures approved by the American National Standards Institute.
